NCWA CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
National Team Title on the Line This year the Collegiate Cup is more important than ever. Teams placing in this years event will carry as many as 24 team points into the season ending National Championships. The new format of scoring points as part of a national championship series will serve to crown a true overall team champion while keeping intact the traditional individual championships that have been our hallmark season ending event. The top 24 Dual teams, as determined by the Collegiate Cup placers will begin the Individual Championships in March with points based upon their respective finishes. The Collegiate Cup Champion team will receive 24 points followed by the runner up team earning 23 points and the 3rd place finisher acquiring 22 points and so on. All participants in the National duals will earn 1 point to begin the Individual Nationals regardless of their finish in the Collegiate Cup Duals. The new format is based upon recommended rule changes being adopted by both the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the NCAA Wrestling Committee, the NCWA Executive Committee voted at the 2013 vision forum to begin the new National Championship Series in 2013-14. The National "Team Champion Title" will now be based upon the combination of team points earned at the Collegiate Cup Duals, combined with team points earned at the season ending individual national championships to ultimately crown an overall team national champion. |
